Overview: how this county growth ranking works
This ranking compares the July 1, 2020 and July 1, 2025 resident population estimates from the same Census Vintage 2025 series. A value of 20.0% means the 2025 estimate is about one-fifth higher than the county's 2020 estimate.
Percentage growth is not the same as absolute population gain. A smaller county can rank above a larger county even when it added fewer residents because the denominator is its own 2020 population. To limit very small-base effects, StatRanker includes only entries with a July 1, 2025 population estimate of at least 10,000.
Ranking rule: raw calculated percentages are sorted from highest to lowest. Rounding to one decimal is used only for display. A tie-break is needed only if full raw percentages are exactly equal.

The metric is cumulative percentage change in county resident population between July 1, 2020 and July 1, 2025 using U.S. Census Bureau Population Estimates Program Vintage 2025. The article is a 2026 publication snapshot; the target year of the observed population estimate is 2025.

Eligibility
StatRanker applies POPESTIMATE2025 ≥ 10,000, making the population floor and its reference year explicit. Puerto Rico municipios and island-area equivalents are outside the ranking universe.
Rank and ties
Rows are ranked by full raw percentage before rounding. Only an exact raw tie would require a deterministic secondary key; equal one-decimal display values alone do not create a tie.

U.S. Census Bureau PEP Vintage 2025 is the numeric authority. County Maps US is used only as an external cross-check of county names and one-decimal display values; it does not select the Top 100 or supply the final raw rank.
Inclusion requires official POPESTIMATE2020 and POPESTIMATE2025 inputs from the same Vintage 2025 series, a reproducible formula, source year, target year, status and method note. Missing values are not imputed, and conflicts are not averaged. The Census series takes priority.
The metric does not measure one-year 2024–2025 growth, absolute population gain, migration alone, births minus deaths, housing construction, economic growth or a 2026 population forecast. The Census Bureau separately publishes annual 2024–2025 county change; that is a different metric.
The numeric ranking is a single-source research dataset calculated from U.S. Census Bureau Vintage 2025 inputs. County Maps US is retained only as an external cross-check.
