About StatRanker
What StatRanker Does
StatRanker is an independent data-driven publication focused on rankings, comparative statistics, and research snapshots. We turn published data into structured comparisons that are easier to inspect, verify, and use.
Our core principle is simple: a ranking should make clear what is being measured, which year the value represents, where the number came from, and whether the value was published directly or calculated.
Our Research Standard
StatRanker prioritizes primary and authoritative sources whenever they are available. Depending on the topic, these may include international organizations, national statistical agencies, regulators, government databases, academic or industry databases, and established commercial research providers.
When several sources are used, we identify their role. A source may provide the numeric value, validate a value, define the methodology, or provide context. Multiple pages from the same organization are not treated as independent sources.
Values Are Labeled by Status
We distinguish directly published values from calculations and forecasts. Our current research framework uses statuses such as official_value, industry_observed_value, calculated_value, official_forecast, and modeled_projection. Calculated or projected values must disclose the inputs, source years, formula, assumptions, and method note.
Why Some Rankings Stop Before 100
StatRanker does not extend a ranking with invented rows simply to reach a round number. If only 10, 50, or 80 comparable values can be verified, the ranking should stop there. A “Top 100” label is appropriate only when 100 comparable rows are supported by the research dataset.
Snapshots and Data Years
A page published or updated in 2026 may use 2024 or 2025 data when those are the latest comparable values available. In that case, the page should say that it is a 2026 snapshot based on the latest available data and identify the actual measurement year. A snapshot year is not presented as the data year.
Corrections and Updates
StatRanker reviews older rankings as new data becomes available and as our research standards improve. If a legacy page contains unsupported proxy values, unclear provenance, stale methodology, or a mismatch between the title and the confirmed dataset, we may correct the methodology, reduce the ranking to the confirmed rows, or temporarily remove the page from search indexing until it can be rebuilt.
We do not average conflicting source values simply to produce a single number. When sources disagree, we prefer the stronger source according to the methodology described in our research standards and disclose meaningful conflicts when they affect interpretation.
Editorial Independence
Rankings are not sold to the entities being ranked. Advertising does not determine rank, inclusion, methodology, or conclusions. Commercial sources may be used when they are the best available source for a specific market metric, but those values are identified as industry-published rather than official government statistics.
