Why this ranking has 35 entries
Minimum-wage systems are not equally comparable across the world. Some countries set wages by sector, region or collective bargaining rather than through one national statutory rate. This ranking focuses on OECD entries with comparable values rather than mixing wage systems with different legal definitions.

Coverage note: the table covers OECD entries with comparable real minimum-wage values. Countries without a statutory national minimum wage or without a comparable OECD value are not included.
Method notes for a broader global comparison
A broader global comparison would require statutory nominal gross monthly minimum-wage data from ILOSTAT or an equivalent official source, PPP-adjusted annual values where available, and country-level comparability filters. A publication table needs rank, country, PPP-adjusted value, year, wage-system note and source label.
Requirements for broader coverage
- Use a single indicator family for statutory minimum wages.
- Keep the original reference year for each country.
- Exclude countries with no national statutory minimum unless a documented comparable value is clearly labelled.
- Flag countries where minimum wages vary by region, sector, occupation or age group.
- Avoid mixing OECD, Eurostat, ILOSTAT and national-law values in one ranking unless the conversion logic is stated row by row.
Comparability note: broader global coverage requires the ILOSTAT bulk series to be extracted and checked first. That prevents a precise-looking ranking from mixing incompatible wage definitions.
